Utah Trip

This summer me headed up to Utah for a Jensen Family Reunion. This was an extra special trip because we were celebrating Brent's parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary. All of Brent's siblings and their children would be in attendance. The new Jensen Family picture. Unfortunately, Barb & Shawn missed being in the picture :(

Brent and his siblings: Lynda, Barb, Kaylene, Sonya, Neil & Sheri.

On Sunday we visited Grant's great-grandfather. He is turning 90 years old this year. He is still in great health and has a wonderful sense of humor. We always enjoy visiting him.
On Monday we went for a walk through Alpine. Part of our walk was along a creek that was racing with water. Brittany, Amanda and Amy saw a snake along the bank of the creek. Grant ran over to it and picked it up. He has no fear of snakes!

Next we took off to go camping at Payson Lakes. The elevation is 8000 feet. The forest was thick and lush. You can see how our tent backs up to an impenetrable forest.

Barb, Brent, Grant and Amy are standing around while the wood is being chopped and split. We had a pretty good wood pile in a short amount of time.

Grant and I took a 1/2 mile hike down this trail. We thought it was taking us to another lake. It didn't. It took us to another part of the stream. While we were out, it started to rain on us. We took shelter in a grove of Aspen trees. It helped a little bit. As soon as the storm broke for a little bit, we took off running on the trail.

Grant, Max & I decided not to brave anymore trails and just go fishing at the lake next to our campsite.

While Grant fished, Max sniffed around looking for gophers and squirrels. He chased some birds and ran around in the water. Max loves camping!

Back at camp Grant hammered out dog tags. He made several of them and enjoyed using the metal set.

Anytime we took Max for a walk, he would run off the trail and search out squirrels and gophers. Brent is in the field trying to retrieve Max.

Grant was also able to make a tie dyed shirt. You can see his skull and tank in this picture. It turned out to be amazing!

We had a wonderful time on our Utah trip. As always, it ends too soon. We wish the drive was shorter and that we could come and visit more often.
